Check out this tips that will help the network management of your company!

Any IT professional dreams of relying on solutions that facilitate monitoring and help troubleshoot network problems before they arise. Check out 7 tips that we have separated for monitoring the networks of your business more efficiently:

Escape the pattern

Many network monitoring tools bring standards from the companies that have developed them. Although useful, do not be restricted to the basics: configure alerts and triggers according to how users use the network. This ensures that notifications are really useful and are not sent unnecessarily to professionals involved in IT processes.

Prioritize critical points

Not all parts of the network need to be monitored so closely by your team. Rate the most important systems, prioritizing those that, when interrupted, generate immediate problems for the company or the users. Also, set more sensitive alerts and triggers to such cases as the appropriate personnel are notified immediately in case of failures.

Do tests

Before expecting that setbacks are present, it is worthwhile to do tests to see how the system behaves. Therefore, simulate scenarios in which the network is used to its maximum capacity to see how the infrastructure and monitoring tool are responsive. This will facilitate the preparation of action plans and reduce the chances that small occurrences become more serious problems.

Get to know the users

A great way to monitor network performance is to know how users who use it behave in everyday life.
Some external events or of the company itself may be crucial for the increased use of the environment and, where provided, allow IT staff to avoid infrastructure inconveniences.

Create a work flow for possible problems

Considering that you already have the network priority aspects listed, create flow charts to instruct staff on how to react should they become unavailable. That way, if something falls outside the standard, each person will perform their task quietly, as expected, rather than triggering notifications to colleagues or managers that had yet to be involved in the problem.

Look for experts

While monitoring the network and its systems, be sure that you are not alone. Look for the company providing the solution to be able to rely on experts in this type of service, avoiding hasty decisions or taken based on subjective criteria.

Look to the future

As the company grows, it is for the IT professional to ensure the network infrastructure needed to support systems.
Therefore, much of the monitoring role is to periodically generate reports about the use of the system and analyze them to base decisions on investments and maintenance in the future.

Finally, remember that there is no point in investing in a state of the art tool if it is not used to the fullest. How have you been monitoring the network of your company on a day-to-day basis? Have you already been following any of the tips outlined in this article?
